Perfumes for autumn
Share
For autumn, men's perfumes have to maintain a certain balance in a season in which the weather is so changeable.
On the one hand, they should not be too intense since warm temperatures can make the smell more intense, creating an aroma that is too strong.
On the other hand, it is no longer hot enough for a fresh perfume to shine and its freshness is so welcome. To choose the right olfactory family, opt for a Green or Fougère perfume.
A green perfume is one whose notes of cedar, sandalwood, vetiver, etc. tend to be the protagonists, evoking an earthy and natural touch that complements well with the autumn atmosphere. In short, they replicate the exact smell of plants, trees and bark that you can find in a forest. They tend to give a very masculine and warm touch to the wearer and are not at all pretentious.
On the other hand, a “fougère” perfume is a free interpretation of what the perfumer thinks of the forest, a composition in which no particular element can be distinguished. Fougeure means “fern” which, in principle, has no scent. It was coined by Paul Parquet for the perfume “Fougère Royale” in 1882, creating the first fougère perfume in history. It is still sold and is delicious.
Fougère perfumes provide more elegance than green ones while maintaining the warmth of the wearer.
