Rosacea, couperose and redness in men
Share
Cuperosis, diffuse redness, and rosacea are skin conditions that primarily affect men with fair, thin, or reactive skin. Although they are often confused with each other, they have nuances that are worth knowing.
What causes them?
These conditions have a multifactorial origin. Genetic factors, prolonged sun exposure, sudden temperature changes, alcohol consumption, stress, irritating products, and certain spicy or hot foods can trigger or aggravate them. In couperose, the capillaries dilate visibly, while rosacea also presents with symptoms such as inflammation, heat, and, in more severe cases, papules or pimples.
What can be done?
The first step is to understand that this is extremely sensitive skin that requires specific care. Cleansing should be gentle, without harsh soaps. Sulfate-free gels are good options.
When it comes to moisturizing, look for products that strengthen the skin barrier and contain soothing active ingredients such as niacinamide, panthenol, or botanical extracts like butcher's broom and centella asiatica.
Avoid physical exfoliants, alcohol, perfumes, and extreme temperature changes. And protect your skin from the sun: daily use of sunscreen is a must.
Broken capillaries can be removed with a laser, but a cream cannot do the same.
And remember that the best solution is to put yourself in the hands of a dermatologist who will treat each case individually.
