Hidratación. Cuanta agua deberíamos beber los hombres

Hydration. How much water should men drink?

We've all heard at some point (especially from women) that we should drink at least two liters of water a day. And they're not wrong... if we think about them.

The U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine determined that an adequate daily fluid intake is 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) of fluids per day for men (Data via Mayo Clinic)

On the other hand, the WHO states that it should be at least 8 glasses of water a day, or the same as about 2.5 liters.

Whether we drink a liter more or less, one thing is clear: if we don't hydrate properly, our skin's health will be compromised, becoming dehydrated and dry, and offering less protection against external aggressors and the sun. And I'm sorry to say, but no serum will hydrate our skin externally as effectively as good internal hydration.

And now, let's talk about what happens in our muscles:

Proper hydration ensures maximum muscle cell volume and aids muscle growth. When we become dehydrated, we expel H₂O from muscle cells, leading to an "anti-anabolic" or catabolic state, characterized by muscle breakdown. (via www.titaniumstrength.es)

Therefore, either we force ourselves to drink water, or the hard training sessions won't do us any good either.

Remember, don't just drink the protein shake; make room in your stomach and add an extra glass of water before, during, and after your workout. Your quads will thank you.
