Patchy beard: Causes and recommendations
Share
We wouldn't mind having 4 hairs in our beard if we were the model in the photo (Atesh Sali photographed for Vogue L'Uomo by Peter Lindberg in 2001).
But for those of us who are not models, we know that having a thick, shiny beard, apart from giving a manly effect, can correct any asymmetry or disproportion in the lower third of the face.
If you have a sparse beard, you can significantly improve its appearance in the following ways:
- Apply topical Minoxidil at 2%... it is less irritating than the concentrations that are applied to the scalp for alopecia and which are 5%. However, understand that you have to be consistent and patient, as the results may take months to appear.
- Use a Derma roller... it has small needles that stimulate circulation and help the hair that is not yet removed to gain strength and give your beard a fuller appearance. However, if there is no hair, it does not work.
- Don't use beard oils if your beard isn't long and thick... these oils are there to give the hair a shiny and tamed look. Applying them to a poor beard will only clog the pores and cause ingrown hairs.
- You can try filling in the gaps with an eyebrow pencil of a similar shade... you'll see that it looks quite natural if you blend it with your fingers afterwards.
Apply it to your routine and, in a few months, you will surely start to feel happier with your beard.
