Glucose Spikes
Share
When you eat foods high in carbohydrates or simple sugars, your blood glucose level rises rapidly, triggering an immediate release of insulin from the pancreas.
Insulin is the hormone responsible for regulating blood glucose, allowing cells to absorb that energy. However, when there is excess glucose, the body cannot store it in the muscles and stores it as fat.
Repeated spikes in glucose can also cause a feeling of hunger shortly after eating, leading to more and more frequent eating, which contributes to weight gain. Also, and remember this, elevated insulin inhibits fat burning, making it harder to lose weight.
To avoid this, drastically reduce your sugar intake (remember that even freshly squeezed juice is full of sugar) and follow this eating pattern: Eat vegetables first, then protein, and finally carbohydrates. The results in fat burning and increased energy will be enormous and very fast.
If you want to delve deeper into the topic, I recommend THE GLUCOSE REVOLUTION by Jessie Inchauspé, which explains all of this in detail while advising, as we do here, that your doctor assess any nutritional guidelines or changes you intend to make.
